Get ready for the 4th annual Chicago Sadie Hawkin's Style Ride!
Mark your calenders for Saturday, November 14th.
This year Sadie's is beginning at The Blue Frog at 676 N LaSalle. We will begin registration at 5pm. You and your partner (yes, you AND your partner. There MUST be two of you) will receive a manifest at 6pm and depart soon after. It will be dark by then, and probably getting chilly, so please bring lights and proper attire!
The after-party has been confirmed for the Cobra Lounge at 235 N Ashland. They have always been supportive of bike events and this is no exception. Prepare yourself for OpenSprints, top notch DJ's, lots of dancing and drink specials TBD.
The Sadie's is geared to be a fun ride for cyclists of all types. This is a great first alleycat if you don't have experience but challenging enough for the racer. Sadie's is specifically geared to encourage women to come out and experience riding/racing in a friendly and non-intimidating manner. So please! Don't be intimidated! And there are tons of fantastic women specific prizes. In addition to prizes for Fastest Couple, prizes will also be given for Best Style, Top Women's Team, and First Out-of-Town.
The Style Prize will be judged by the checkpoint workers. There are no matching requirements or other specifics, just be creative. The checkpoint workers will be evaluating so make sure they see your costume if you've dressed to impress. We will tally this votes and bring up the finalists for a crowd decision.
Unfortunately, we did NOT manage to obtain all-ages venues this year. Some of the checkpoints will be at bars as well, so Sadie's will be 21+ race for 2009.
As always, the Sadie's is a benefit for the Chicago Women's Health Center. Again, we will again be raffling off some awesome prizes. Make sure to pick raffle tickets for a chance to win some cool schwag while supporting a collective providing an excellent service for all Chicago Women.
